Abstract

Teacher attendance management is one of the administrative activities that significantly affects the operational effectiveness of educational institutions. KB Kartini previously utilized a fingerprint device to record teachers' attendance. However, permanent damage to the device forced the institution to return to manual attendance recording using paper-based attendance books, increasing the risk of recording errors, data loss, and delays in monthly attendance reporting. This study aims to develop a web-based teacher attendance system by integrating Face Recognition and Geofencing technologies to validate user identity and attendance location. The system was developed using the Waterfall software development model, including requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and evaluation. The application was implemented using the Laravel framework, MySQL database, face-api.js library for facial recognition, and HTML5 Geolocation API for location verification. The implementation results indicate that the proposed system successfully performs facial authentication, validates attendance locations within the designated school radius, records attendance data automatically into the database, and generates attendance reports in Microsoft Excel format. The developed system improves administrative efficiency, minimizes recording errors, and simplifies teacher attendance monitoring at KB Kartini.
