Abstract

Kopi Tenang is an MSME coffee shop located in Tangerang Regency, Banten, which still relies on manual transaction recording based on paper receipts in its daily operations. This condition causes various operational problems such as slow cashier service during peak hours, potential calculation errors, non-real-time raw material stock management, and difficulties in compiling periodic sales reports. This study aims to design and build a Desktop-based Cashier Information System (Point of Sale/POS) using the Java programming language with local SQLite database storage. The system is developed using the Waterfall SDLC method covering requirements analysis, system design, coding implementation, functionality testing, and maintenance stages. The user interface is developed using Java Swing GUI with JDesktopPane and JInternalFrame framework on NetBeans IDE. The system includes product menu management, cashier transaction recording, automatic integrated raw material stock deduction, physical receipt printing, and daily and monthly sales report generation. Blackbox testing results show that all main system functionalities run in accordance with established specifications. The result is a standalone desktop POS application proven to improve cashier service speed, financial recording accuracy, stock management transparency, and ease of monitoring Kopi Tenang Tangerang revenue.
