Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has encouraged the digitalization of various activities in educational institutions, including the election process of the Student Council (OSIS) President. At MTs Nur Asy-Syafi’iyah (Yaspina), the election process was still conducted conventionally using paper ballots, resulting in time-consuming vote counting, a higher risk of human error, and inefficient data management. This study aims to design and implement a web-based e-voting system to improve the efficiency, speed, accuracy, and transparency of the Student Council President election process. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interviews, literature studies, and documentation. The system was developed using the Waterfall method, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The application was built using PHP as the programming language, MySQL as the database management system, and Unified Modeling Language (UML) for system modeling. System testing was carried out using the Black Box Testing method to evaluate the functionality of the developed features. The results indicate that all system features, including candidate management, voter token generation, electronic voting, and automatic vote recapitulation, functioned according to user requirements. Therefore, the developed e-voting system successfully supports a more effective, efficient, accurate, and transparent Student Council President election process compared to the conventional voting method.
