PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA JEMBATAN TOLERANSI TERHADAP SIKAP SALING MENGHARGAI PADA SISWA KELAS V SD NEGERI 1 ALUE DUA
Abstract
This research is motivated by the urgency of instilling character values in elementary schools, particularly regarding how to foster mutual respect among fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Alue Dua. The emergence of symptoms of declining tolerance in daily interactions at school can disrupt the comfort of the learning environment. To address this problem, an innovative media called Jembatan Toleransi (Tolerance Bridge) was implemented as an interactive learning tool. This research focused on testing the effectiveness of using this media in developing a character of mutual respect in students. Through a quantitative approach, this study employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 15 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Alue Dua were involved as full subjects in the study. The primary data collection process relied on a mutual respect questionnaire instrument, which was reinforced by observation sheets and activity documentation. The collected data were then processed using descriptive statistical techniques and paired sample t-tests. Based on data analysis, it was found that the use of Jembatan Toleransi media had a significant positive impact on the development of mutual respect in students. This finding was evidenced by a significant increase in the average score of students' attitudes between before and after the intervention. Furthermore, during the learning process, students appeared more empathetic, open, and able to respond wisely to differences. In conclusion, the Tolerance Bridge media has proven to be an adaptive and solution-oriented learning tool for strengthening tolerance in elementary school children.
