Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of competence and workload on employee job satisfaction at PT. Hanan Mekar Jaya Karya Tangerang, both partially and simultaneously. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents who are company employees, using a saturated sampling technique. The collected data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²), with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The results show that partially, the competence variable (X1) has a significant effect on job satisfaction (Y), with a regression coefficient of 0.922, t value of 8.796 > t table 2.004, and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. Meanwhile, the workload variable (X2) also has a significant effect on job satisfaction, with a regression coefficient of 1.006, t value of 9.543 > t table 2.004, and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. Simultaneously, competence and workload significantly affect job satisfaction, with an F value of 82.968 > F table 3.17 and a significance level of 0.000. The resulting regression equation is Y = -7.843 + 0.547X1 + 0.658X2. The coefficient of determination (R²) value is 0.754, indicating that competence and workload contribute 75.4% to job satisfaction, while the remaining 24.6% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study
