PENGARUH KOMPETENSI DAN MOTIVASI KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA PEGAWAI PADA DINAS PERPUSTAKAAN DAN KEARSIPAN KOTA TANGERANG SELATAN
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of Competence and Work Motivation on Employee Performance at the Library and Archives Office of South Tangerang City. The study examines both partial and simultaneous effects using an associative quantitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature review, observation, documentation, and distributing questionnaires to 60 respondents. The analytical methods used in this research include descriptive statistical analysis, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing. Based on the t-test results between the Competence variable (X₁) and Employee Performance (Y), the t-value was greater than the t-table value (11.765 > 2.002), thus H₀₁ was rejected and Hₐ₁ was accepted, meaning that Competence (X₁) partially has a significant effect on Employee Performance (Y). Meanwhile, for the Work Motivation variable (X₂), the t-value was also greater than the t-table value (10.768 > 2.002), so H₀₂ was rejected and Hₐ₂ was accepted, indicating that Work Motivation (X₂) partially has a significant effect on Employee Performance (Y). The F-test results showed that the F-value was greater than the F-table value (75.813 > 3.159) with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, thus H₀₃ was rejected and Hₐ₃ was accepted, meaning that Competence and Work Motivation simultaneously have a significant effect on Employee Performance. The multiple linear regression equation obtained was Y = 6.098 + 0.499X₁ + 0.337X₂, indicating that both Competence and Work Motivation have a positive influence on Employee Performance. The correlation coefficient (R) was 0.853, which falls within the interval of 0.800 to 1.000, showing that Competence (X₁) and Work Motivation (X₂) have a very strong relationship with Employee Performance (Y). The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.717, meaning that 71.7% of the variation in Employee Performance is influenced by Competence and Work Motivation, while the remaining 28.3% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
