PERANCANGAN APLIKASI DICOM VIEWER TERINTEGRASI DENGAN PACS BERBASIS WEB

Abstract

Along with the increasing complexity of medical procedures, and increasing financial pressures so that services in hospitals, especially in radiology installations can be shortened and the efficiency of handling patient cases such as blockages in the brain can be improved, making the weaknesses of the current film-based medical image system more apparent. The high price of film makes the number of copies per film per patient limited, generally only 1 copy is used for radiology examinations, resulting in potential problems that will cause loss or reduce the quality that should be. Electronic image transmission system with equipment or tools in it or better known as Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and DICOM Viewer to display the results of images sent from the modality, is a solution to this problem. Evident from the results of the questionnaire that has been filled in by 42 respondents strongly agree that the existence of PACS can help in hospital services. Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is an inter- and intra-institutional computing system that manages the acquisition, transmission, storage, distribution, display, and interpretation of medical images. As such, it is highly integrated with the imaging processes of the Radiology Department and with radiology image-based clinical practice. In recent years, there has been significant growth in the implementation of PACS, mainly due to the obvious advantages such as improved workflow, increased throughput and productivity, fast and simultaneous remote access to image data, electronic archiving, the possibility of improved image quality, and cost-effectiveness, leading to an overall improvement in the quality of patient care.
